Vandervilles: Book 1: When Beauty Met The Beast by Khardine Gray Review

Vandervilles 1

You get sucked into this story and just can’t stop reading. The characters were detailed and you could understand most of them, you have no idea fully who the bad guy/girl is, and we still have secrets to discover. Like the description says, this is book 1 of 3 and does end on a cliffhanger.

Chloe is best friends with Taylor, pines for Wade and works for Regina. Her mom is best friends with Regina…that is just the beginning of this story. Taylor just wants her happily ever after. Regina is in an unhappy marriage and has been for YEARS, what will happen with that.

There are so many characters to feel something for and you just want them all to end up happy. I literally already feel in love with these characters and was not ready for this book to end, I am so glad there are 2 more books, as I am so intrigued and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Battle Scars by Emily Goodwin Review

Battle Scars.jpg

Cole and Ana both deserved to be happy, but no story is complete without some drama…this book definitely delivers that in the form of Stephen. I love the drama/suspense of Stephen and you never knew if and when that would end. But we also got to see Ana and Cole happy as a couple, which never gets boring. We get Ana writing, Cole editing and trying for a promotion, we get Luke and Lexi and their relationships with both Cole and Ana. We also get Ana’s sister and mom. I love when side characters add another dimension to a story and these characters definitely do.

This is book 2 in a series and definitely needs to be read after book 1, Bad Things.

This book is one that really shows you the day to day of a relationship and that is kindof refreshing, it shows you insecurities, even why people may lie about something, etc. Not to be confused for showing utter happiness and more. You really get a little bit of everything with this book.

Title: Battle Scars

Series: Love is Messy Duet Book #2

Author: Emily Goodwin

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: June 29

They say time heals all wounds, but sometimes it does just the opposite. The pain festers, seeping deep into your heart. By the time you’ve realized what happened, it’s too late and you’re left with a scar that will never go away.

I’ve spent the last year hiding my scars, running from the man who gave them to me. What I thought was love turned out to be a nightmare that won’t end, even though I forced myself awake. Love isn’t real. Love only leads to heartache.

And then I met him, the epitome of tall, dark and handsome. Throw in some sexy confidence and a panty-melting grin, and you have the recipe for a broken heart. Only, my heart is becoming full again, being put back together piece by piece the more time we spend together.

I’ve been down this road before and know it’ll end in two ways: we’ll ride off in the sunset together and live happily ever after, or we’ll crash and burn so hard neither will survive the wreckage. I want to be hopeful, but history is damned to repeat itself. And I have the scars to prove it.

The Catch By K. Bromberg

**Review at the bottom

After an unexpected twist of fate, All-Star catcher Easton Wylder is left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.

Even the woman who shares his bed, Scout Dalton.

But if Easton thought being uprooted to the last place he expected was the only challenge life had to throw at him, he was dead wrong.

With an ailing shoulder and his career in limbo, his decision to make an unexpected change leads him to question everything – Scout’s love, family loyalties, and whether he can conquer the one obstacle he’s never been able to overcome. The secret he’s never shared with anyone.

He may be a man pushed to his limits, but he’s hell-bent on proving his worth no matter the cost.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]Baseball has never been sexier in an all-new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg.

Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.

So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather, his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.

Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.

And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to maintain the club’s best interest, in regards to whether he’s ready to play.

But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat, or is one of them bound to get burned?

REVIEW:

This book has SO MANY EMOTIONS. I don’t even know where to begin. Secrets come out, lessons are learned and we see Easton and Scout struggle and we see their strength as a couple. It was nice to see that this book had Scout fighting for their relationship. Easton was a jerk at times, but man did he have A LOT going on in this book and I really felt for him.

I loved all the twists and turns that happened throughout this book, most of while I did not see coming. But I loved how Ms. Bromberg dealt with them and brought them to the forefront.

This book is about more then just a love between Scout and Easton, it is about love within a family, team, friends, it is about selfishness, selflessness, following your own dreams, realizing your dreams and so much more. While there are lots of heavy parts this book also has sweet moments in it as well, and by the end I was a crying mess. Ms. Bromberg has a way with writing that really draws you in. And this book is no exception.

REVIEW:

I love that this book ends up back where The Castle took place, it gives us that other perspective.  Damon and Penny are both so haunted, and Damon knows he shouldn’t want Penny, but he can’t help it.  It is and will always be her for him.  Penny has had a hard life, and Damon tried to help her when she was little, but some things in life are really just set out for you.

You can really see Damon fighting things and you can see the good and the bad within him, but you can always see that soft spot for Penny.  And while she may want to fight it, she is just as attracted to Damon.  Penny is only 15 in this book, so while we don’t get sexual intimacy, I feel like there is intimacy in a different form, you can see the connection between them through Skye’s writing.

Skye has such a way with words that you just feel so drawn in to the story.  The only thing I would change would be to add more about Damon as I really did feel a majority of this was focused on Penny’s past, etc  but I have a feeling that The Queen will cover this.  A dark read that you won’t be able to put down and you will feel for both Damon and Penny throughout this story.

Unforgiven by Willow Winters

Title: Unforgiven
Series: Sins and Secrets #2
Author: Willow Winters
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: June 19, 2017
Blurb
The sins of his past can’t be forgiven.
Mason Thatcher gave me chills when I first laid eyes on
him.  The good kind. The kind that makes your body ache and your heart
hammer.
What’s better is that he looked at me the same way.
There was a hunger in his eyes that wouldn’t be sated, and a
confidence in his stride that told me I could never run from him. Back then, I
didn’t want to.
It’s not fair that his touch eased my pain.
That his lips on mine made my worries vanish.
That his love gave me a reason to breathe again.
With him, I felt complete, as if fate had given me a second
chance.
Then I learned the truth: the sins and secrets of what really
brought us together.
I knew it was too good to be true, but I could never have
imagined he’d be capable of something so cold and cruel.
There’s no way we can go back to what we once were and it’s
not as easy as walking away.  He won’t let me.  He can’t risk me
telling his secrets.
I don’t know what choices I have or how I’ll survive this.
What he’s done is unforgivable, but that doesn’t mean he’s
going to let me go.

Review

This is book 2 and you HAVE to read book 1 (Imperfect) first since you will miss a lot and be lost. With that said, this book overall is much darker then book 1, but so much emotion is in it.

Mason doesn’t want to lose Julia so he in a way kidnaps her…that is where we start, but nowhere near where this story ends. Jules is lost and confused and hurt and pissed and yet she loves Mason but she knows she can’t stay there, she can’t forgive him.

One of the best things of this duet is the poems that Willow adds to the beginning of each chapter. There is so much emotion in them without even reading the rest.

But this is a book you can not put now as you have to know what happens. Lies, betrayal, hurt, kidnapping, running away, despair, losing everything, and mostly love…where does that all lead us. Are there things are that really are UNFORGIVABLE or can we in the end get past the hurt and “events” and let our love through.

Willow has a way with words that can show us how much in love two people can be and yet can also show the hurt that is there, 2 different emotions at the same time really come through the pages of this book.

Review of book 1:

Wow, Wow, Wow! This book is amazing and yet it does end on a HUGE cliffhanger. (But it is a duet so I wouldn’t expect any less).

Mason and Jules have amazing chemistry and you can’t help but love the two of them together. Mason is this good guy right from the start and Jules is *scared*, she hasn’t done any dating since losing her husband about 8 months prior, and it was her looking for Mason, but she found him and was intrigued and couldn’t help the connection and chemistry.

This is a book you will have trouble putting down.
