Portrait of romantic couple

Blurb:

My name is Nathan Reines… and I’m a voyeur. Yes, I like to watch people have sex. Witnessing the desire on their faces as they writhe in ecstasy makes my blood hotter than the hottest flame. There’s nothing more erotic than seeing their bodies tighten and tremble as they balance on the edge of ecstasy. It makes my dick as hard as fucking steel.

I’ve never been tempted to have a lasting relationship with a woman—why get involved when watching from the sidelines is so fucking hot? But from the first time I watched the woman in the apartment across from mine, I knew she was different. She teases me with her soft touches and gentle caresses. She tempts me with her silent moans and sexy whimpers. She excites me, and makes me want more than I ever have before.

For two years, I refused to give in to my curiosity. That is, until fate took things in her own twisted hands. Now that I know what it’s like to experience Emberleigh in the flesh, there’s no damn way I could ever go back to simply watching.

Although this is book 3 in The Consumed Series, Watching Mine may be read and enjoyed as a STANDALONE.

Review:

Who knew reading a book about a man who gets off on watching others get off could be SO HOT. And when he happens to run into the girl he has been watching for 2 years, he can’t get her out of his mind, and it is a first for him. Secrets are there OBVIOUSLY on both sides, and yet this is a book you can’t put down. The characters are HOT and amazing and you just want to continue reading their kinky world. I love that this author writes these books in this taboo series…it shows a different side of sex and how things you woun’t normally find a turn on can be very very wrong.

Emerberleigh really comes out of her sexual shell in this book and enjoyed every minute of it and as a reader you will too.

I love the friendships in this book, these characters are all dealing with their own taboo idea and yet, they are a family and all accept others no matter what and it is a great way to show how close they really are. But this book is about a lot more then just this voyeurism, it is about self-doubt, grief, etc…can one learn to forgive themselves?

This is written in dual point of view and it flows seamlessly between the two and it really is nice to see both of them as it always helps give insight into the characters.

Exclusive Excerpt:

After two miles of running in silence, void of all our usual small talk and bullshit, Simon slows us to a slow jog. “Azalea?”

He never was one to beat around the bush, and he’s certainly never hesitated on calling me on my shit. “Yeah, Azalea.”

“Y’all ever gonna get together?”

I scrub a hand over my face. “Us getting together ain’t the problem. It’s staying together. She’s got it stuck in her pretty little head that I don’t want strings.” He shows no reaction to the fact that I just shared that Azalea and I have been sleeping together. Odd. Shaking my head, I grunt in annoyance. “Girl’s got it wrong. I want more than strings. I want chains.”

“Hmm.”

Here we go. “Hmm what, Simon?”

“Well, and this is just a thought, but have you ever actually told her you want more?”

“I mean, I guess?”

“You don’t sound so sure. You either have or you haven’t.”

“I’ve told her we were a long time coming and that I’ve always wanted her, and just today, I told her how good we are together. So, yeah, I’ve told her.” My voice comes out strong and confident. Too bad Simon’s about to crush that confidence like a tin can.

“You’re an idiot. That’s not telling her how you feel. That’s telling her you like the way she makes you feel, if you catch my drift.” Judging from the confused look on my face, Simon can see, clearly, that I’m not catching his drift. “Dude, you basically made it sound like you enjoy fucking her.”

Is he right? I mean, I do, but . . . “Aw, hell.” Yeah, he’s totally right. “I’m such an asshole.”

Synopsis:

Technically, you aren’t supposed to fall in love with your best friend’s girl.

When I was nineteen years old, I was faced with a choice that changed my life.

Keep the safety of what I already knew or risk losing everything with the young, hotheaded soldier who stole my heart.

I chose the wrong man, and for seventeen years, I paid in tears, blood, and shattered dreams for that decision.

Now, there’s a man in my house, holding a gun to my head on the order of my ex-husband—given from his prison cell.

That hotheaded soldier I was too afraid to choose? He’s now a six-foot-three wall of muscle who works at the country’s most premier bodyguard agency. I’ve always wanted him, but now, I’ve never needed him more.

It’s the call I’m terrified to make.

I’m sure he still hates me… Even though I’ve never stopped loving him.

Review:

This is book 2 in the series, yet my first book by his author. I never would have known it was the second though, maybe I just didn’t know what I was missing (and I will definitely go back and read book 1), but this book felt like its own world. A second chance romance that in a way was also an enemies to lovers. Jeremy and Mira left off 17 years ago in a bad place, neither thought they would ever see each other again and yet here we are.

This book sucks you and keeps you on the edge of your seat, the action/suspense is so so great. It is my favorite genre of romance for a reason and this one did not disappoint in that department.

I also love watching Jeremy with his co-workers/friends…it was a great element that I am sure is incorporated throughout the entire series and added a much needed aspect.

Jeremy and Mira get to fall in love all over and really realize that they were never over the other…and not that it took long to see the feelings coming tot he surface, but it was appreciated that it wasn’t a rushed thing and that we didn’t just see them jump into bed together and had them pretend the past 17 years hadn’t happened. Jeremy’s anger was justified as she did walk away from him and yet, I think his anger was more that he was mad at himself for still being hung up on her.

This book flows nicely and again sucks you in. It is a nice balance of suspense and sweet (being friendship and romance).

Prepare to die for her?

Double-check.

The curve of her breast outlined by sparkling rhinestones.

Slim hips wrapped in black fishnets.

Long, dark hair…

She’s the Dark Angel who stole my heart.

Her body is intoxicating, our love overwhelming.

Cat eyes and blood red lips.

Sizzling fingers on white-hot skin.

I couldn’t keep my hands off her…

But her fame had a dark side,

A sinister shadow lurking under the lights.

I would do anything to save her…

He would do anything to see me dead.

Review

A lot can happen from the very first page. Mark and Larissa have a very different journey in the world of “burlesque” dance/strip clubs….seedy is one way to say it. Mark and Larissa are both looking to get one foot up and yet, falling for someone else barely getting by isn’t how it was suppose to work for Lara. But Mark saved her and yet even before then there was something about him. This book has so many details and their initial feeling for each other is one of those things written in a way you knew that the other was someone special. One look was all it took. But twists and turns and other people’s ideas gave us a great story with more then just a romance.

Lara in some ways seems very naive, and yet, at times she doesn’t, and that confused me. I love her protectiveness of Molly as well. Roland may have good intentions and yet sometimes they come at the wrong time. But I still love his protectiveness. Mark has a past, but he is one that will instantly draw you and you can’t help but hope for the best for him.

I don’t feel like this is your typical romance, and that makes the book so much better, and while it does end with a cliffhanger, at least the wait isn’t too long for the next one. But the writing flows nicely, you get a great story that doesn’t leave out details and really sucks you in with that.

Chore Play by Piper Rayne

Title: Chore Play
Series: Dirty Truths #3
Author: Piper Rayne
Genre: Romantic Comedy Standalone
Release Date: January 5, 2018
People like to see the womanizing jerk fall…the one who takes the number, but never calls? The guy who beds and never weds? Everyone wants to see that guy fall in love, right?
Pfft. Sounds like a script straight out of one of the box office movies my clients make.
Get your head out of the clouds because in real life the arrogant player doesn’t fall head over heels for the feisty brunette.
Unless the feisty brunette met him years before he’d perfected his cool demeanor. Unless she carved a spot out of his heart that never fully healed.

Our first meeting kick started my heart. Fourteen years later, our reunion was less heart and more kick. Turns out Quinn is just as hot and bothered to see me as I am her and I have the head injury to prove it.
I roll over, pulling the covers up to my neck, burying my pounding head into my pillow. The pressure is like a steaming pot rattling the lid.
Flipping back over, I stare up at my ceiling. I focus on the fan above me, circling around and around. My body shivers from my fever and I can barely form a coherent thought, my head is so heavy with congestion.
From the bedside table my phone dings, no doubt my agent asking where the hell my book is. The lies are going to catch up to me now. Now that I can’t sit in front of my computer for the next twenty hours straight to get her a shitty draft.
Bang.
I pop up in bed, my heart squeezing while the room spins.
Bang. Clank.
I throw the covers off me, swinging my feet over the side of the bed. Staying as still as I can, I wait. Maybe it was Toby, the cat next door, snooping in the trashcans again. Or the mailman dropping a package by the front door. But it sounded like it was inside.
“Fuck.”
I freeze at the male voice that’s not coming from outside my windows, but inside my house. I look over at my nightstand to grab my phone and that’s when I remember…I left it downstairs on my kitchen table. Shit. Slowly, I pull the drawer open, grabbing the heavy-duty flashlight my dad gave me as a housewarming present.
My socks slide on the hardwood floors as I inch closer to my bedroom door, waiting for another sound.
Bang.
Clank.
Water runs.
“What?” the intruder asks, and my hair whips in my face as I spin around the door frame into the hall, half expecting to see him or his partner. Shit. There could be two of them. I find nothing.
“You’re a smart girl, you can handle it on your own. I’ll be in at noon.” The water turns on again and the man’s voice triggers something inside of me. Familiarity courses through me, but I remind myself I only know two people in this city and only one of them has a key. The other one wrote me out of his life more than a decade ago.
I tiptoe down the stairs, my hand sliding down the railing, my other hand raised with the flashlight in my grip. Adrenaline gives me the strength I didn’t have minutes ago to get out of bed.
The loud noises increase, coming from the kitchen, so I don’t have to worry about my approach. I round the end of my stairs, walk past my bookshelves and, grabbing every ounce of my Wonder Woman strength, I run forward and hit the man over the head.
He spins immediately. “Whoa!” His hands move up to block me, but I continue hammering away at him. Over and over again until he loses his footing on the floor and falls to his ass, his hands criss-crossed in front of his face. “What the fuck?” he screams.
Dropping the flashlight, I dart over to the counter and yank open a drawer, plucking a butcher knife out, holding it out toward him.
His arms slowly lower and the knife trembles in my hands, thudding to the floor. In my haze of recognition, he slides his leg out and kicks the knife away.
“Jagger?” My voice is like a scared mouse in front of a cat.
Confusion is etched in every line of his still-handsome face. “Belle?”
Rage over the nickname he used to call me because of my love for reading lights a fire in my belly. “Don’t call me that!” I imagine patting myself on the back. In my head, I’m bouncing from toe to toe like a boxer preparing to pummel her opponent. But my exhilaration slows as I really see him now.
Fourteen years later and he still has the ability to steal my breath away. He rounds to all fours and his large frame rolls up until he towers over me. At one point, I loved that about him. The way my head fit perfectly under his chin. The way his long arms encompassed my entire body, warming me like a blanket. The way his lips would brush along the top of my head, silently telling me no one would hurt me as long as I was in his arms.
His movements pause, and his gaze fixates on me. Too quickly, that look of surprise vanishes. “Let’s not continue with the dramatics, okay?” He raises his hands in front of him in a placating gesture. Condescending and arrogant—a side to him that once turned me on.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
His gaze inspects my body like he’s trying to figure out what I look like under my pajama pants, t-shirt and sweater.
Fuck. I grab my stringy brown hair and pull it to the side, hoping to God I don’t look like I feel, which is beaten and left for dead on the side of the road.
The right side of his lips tip up like he’s enjoying what he’s thinking in that mind of his.
I crisscross the sides of my cardigan to cover myself. He can masturbate his dick off before he’ll ever get a look at me again.
Without a word he walks over to the counter, picks up a card and hands it to me.
Clean Queen.
“You hired this service?” He cocks an eyebrow.
In the haze of my illness, I never cancelled.
Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two established authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?

We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon holed into a specific outline. We wanted to give readers a story without them assuming how the story will flow. Everyone has their favorite authors, right? And when you pick up their books, you expect something from them. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it.
What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We’re both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We’re both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.

review
Jagger was definitely worth the wait.  I love that good second chance romance and this one did not disappoint.  And as always we get some great humor throughout.   Quinn was sassy and cute and I loved how she made him work for it.  Jagger has a sweet side that is only for her and I love seeing that side of him.  It was nice to see what happened all those years about and why Jagger was the way he was.  And also always it is nice to see the other characters and seeing their stories progress throughout as well, and yet, you could read this as a standalone though.
The writing style is so great, it flows nicely and never leaves anything out.  You get a perfectly well rounded story that you hate to see end.  I will miss these characters, but knowing these authors we will see them again soon.

Review

Sometimes you just need a good romance with happy moments and a little drama.  While we do have some drama, overall it is a much more feel good romance then I have read in awhile and I loved it.  Both Duncan and Daisy have such big hearts, so it is no wonder women love Dunk as he seems to always remember their dates, etc and while they aren’t in relationships he still treats them special.  Daisy is tired of people seeing her as a divorcee…Of course Duncan and Daisy sleep together when he doesn’t remember her, but he is bound and determined to find her.  But while I thought it would take up much of the book, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t and we could focus more on Daisy and Dunk as a couple and/or individuals.

The story flowed nicely and told a nice story about something you realize how important someone is when you are no longer with them.  Overall though this was an easy read and I loved it.
